With a relatively flat terrain and a continental
climate of extremes, La Mancha does not get much rain due to its
encirclement by mountains.
Red and white wines are made in La Mancha with the
white predominating. The main grape (80% of the acreage) is Airen
from which the tiny grapes produce a very tasty and crisp light
white wine. Yet the reds are fast becoming a great value force in
the wine industry, thanks to a mixture of grapes including
Tempranillo and Garnacha. |
